Shared Values, Stronger Results: Schlam Partners with Komek Machinery in Kazakhstan

"Four workers in high-vis vests and hard hats stand in front of a Komatsu HD785 haul truck fitted with a Schlam Hercules truck bed at a mine site in Kazakhstan."

True partnership is built on commitment. At Schlam, we pride ourselves on always showing up and never shying away from our responsibilities. As we expand into Central Asia’s rapidly growing mining sector, we look for that same commitment in those we work with, and that’s why Komek Machinery Kazakhstan LLP is proving to be a natural fit.

Komek Machinery: A Partner Built on Responsibility

For Komek Machinery, being Altynalmas JSC’s choice for the supply, maintenance, technical support and servicing of Komatsu equipment carries real responsibility. Part of meeting that responsibility means constantly looking for ways to increase the productivity of the equipment they support, and that’s what led them to Schlam.

“It is especially valuable to us that Altynalmas JSC trusts us with the supply, maintenance, technical support, and servicing of Komatsu equipment,” said Yerlan Edilbayev, Project Manager, Komek Machinery Kazakhstan LLP.

That responsibility extends to Altynalmas JSC’s Pustynnoye Mining and Processing Complex in Kazakhstan.

Hercules Truck Beds Arrive at Altynalmas' Pustynnoye Complex

The first Hercules truck beds have now rolled out at Pustynnoye, marking the site’s introduction to Schlam’s lightweight design.

“The main principle of the Schlam Hercules body is pretty simple. It’s effectively making mining equipment better. Better payload, better optimisation, lighter weight, and more efficient,” said Luke Martin, Technical Support Manager EMEA, Schlam Payload.

That principle is exactly why bringing Hercules to Altynalmas was a choice made deliberately.

“This is our first experience with Schlam’s lightweight bodies. The choice was made deliberately, because the reduced weight of the body gives us useful payload and increases our production efficiency,” said Ardak Olzhabas, Chief Mechanic, Altynalmas JSC’s Pustynnoye Mining and Processing Complex.

Building Momentum Across Central Asia

Hercules already has a proven track record in Kazakhstan. At a long-life copper mine in the region, switching to lightweight Hercules truck beds delivered up to a 17% increase in payload, worth as much as 600,000 tonnes of extra material a year per truck, while keeping haul costs per tonne in check.

This partnership carries that same performance to a new site and a new customer, and it reflects the shared drive for productivity that’s shaping how Schlam grows across Central Asia, working with distributors and customers who share the same commitment to getting more out of every truck, every cycle, every site.
