PEOPLE & CULTURE ADVISOR FINDS “NEW HOME” AT SCHLAM

In May, Cynthia Wambui joined Schlam as Payload Solutions’ new People and Culture Advisor.

Cynthia has been working in human resources for three and half years in the disability sector. Prior to that, Cynthia worked in rostering and direct support while still at university, where she studied health sciences.

While the disability and resources sectors might seem worlds apart, Cynthia said that there was something about an opportunity at Schlam that just made sense.

“I walked out of my interview here and thought, this is my new home,” said Cynthia.

“I didn’t quite know what to expect, but I’ve been blown away by how welcoming everyone has been. The culture here is amazing and the values and ideology of the company – including the purpose to make the customer experience exceptional – align perfectly with my own.”

On top of the culture, Cynthia says that she was attracted to Schlam due to the company’s ambitious growth plans.

“The five-year outlook for this company is amazing, and I think I have a lot to offer in working within various projects to help reach those targets,” continued Cynthia.

Though the MBA graduate admits that there is lots to learn and even more to do, she says that she’s excited by the challenge.

Outside of the office, Cynthia enjoys the gym, is an avid traveller who managed to sneak in a trip to Kenya just before the pandemic and is a budding camper.

“I enjoy camping and want to do more of it, but my mates are not so keen,” said Cynthia with a chuckle.
