Celebrating Our 2000th Hercules dump body

Schlam Payload Asia-Pacific recently celebrated a significant milestone – the delivery of their 2000th Hercules dump truck body. The completion of Hercules A2000 stands as a clear testament to their dedication to excellence, customer service and innovation in mining equipment.

Hercules A2000 has been transported to a BHP mine site in the Pilbara, joining over 300 other Hercules bodies in the BHP Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) fleet. This milestone marked a historic moment for Schlam. Employees from various departments came together to commemorate this achievement and reflect on the continued success of the company.

Managing Director of Schlam Payload Asia-Pacific, Hendrik Mueller, expressed his pride in the team’s effort, stating, “It was great to see our extended team collectively celebrating an important milestone in our company history, one that they all played a part in. The collective pride was also a testament to our principle of working ‘stronger together’.”

From the first Hercules manufactured in Australia in 2003 to reaching the 1000th milestone after 17 years, and now achieving the 2000th body just four years later, it has been an incredible journey. Hercules dump truck bodies are actively used in mining operations across six continents, delivering the payload advantages they were designed for in diverse environments.

With long-term contracts in place with major miners like BHP, Fortescue, Glencore, Northern Star, and Newmont, Hercules is set for continued growth. To meet the increasing demand and maintain the commitment to customer satisfaction, Schlam has improved its manufacturing capabilities.

In 2023, the company implemented LEAN manufacturing principles and invested significantly in automation, including robotics, to enhance efficiency and streamline production. “We have created efficiencies in our manufacturing processes through the introduction of robotics, automation, and LEAN manufacturing principles, all the while maintaining our focus on safety, quality and employment,” Hendrik said.

Schlam also expanded its global presence by forming partnerships with quality-driven manufacturers in China and Mexico. Additionally, they opened a dedicated Americas office in Tucson, Arizona, in 2023 to better serve customers in the region. “In a relatively short time, we’ve developed into a truly global company,” Hendrik said.

The delivery of the 2000th Hercules dump body underscores Schlam’s dedication to customer service and making mining equipment more productive. With a legacy of engineering innovation dating back to 1996, Schlam continues to push boundaries and set new industry standards.
