WHAT WORK WILL I DO?
Joining our close-knit team will see you work on a range of heavy mobile equipment such as excavators, dump trucks, shovels, dozers, graders and loaders. You may carry out breakdown service and repair work for heavy mobile equipment both in the field or pit and in a workshop.
Some other duties include:
- Routine Maintenance – regular inspections and preventative maintenance
- Repairs – diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues
- Component Replacement – replacing worn or damaged parts such as engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems
- Safety Compliance – ensuring equipment meets safety standards and regulations
- Documentation – maintaining detailed records of maintenance and report work for equipment history and compliance purposes
- Emergency Repairs – responding to breakdowns and emergencies to get equipment back into operation as quickly as possible
- Upgrades – installing modifications and upgrades to improve performance and efficiency
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED TO JOIN SCHLAM?
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- Prior experience with open cut mining
- Thorough understanding of OEM brands: CAT, Hitachi, Sandvik, Komatsu, Liebherr
- Effective communicator
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team, across remote locations
- Thorough understanding and demonstration of adherence to safety systems and procedures
In addition to your HD Mechanic or Auto Electrical Trade Qualification, you will also need:
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Valid Passport
- National Police Clearance
