482 VISA Sponsorship – covering all associated costs
1 way flight from your country to Perth, Australia
Accommodation for the first month living in Australia
Private Health Insurance for the first month living in Australia
Any necessary or required tickets and licenses for mine sites
Full Personal Protective Equipment including shirts, pants, boots, jacket, helmet, cap/beanie, button up shirt, safety glasses, lunch boxes and some awesome Schlam goodies!
Mental Health and Wellbeing Support – access to help and support for your mental health and wellbeing programs
Working in our close-knit team you will work on a range of heavy mobile equipment such as excavators, dump trucks, shovels, dozers, graders and loaders. You may carry out breakdown service and repair work for heavy mobile equipment both in the field or pit and in a workshop.
Some other duties include;
Routine Maintenance – regular inspections and preventative maintenance.
Repairs – Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues.
Component replacement – replacing worn or damaged parts such as engines, transmissions. and hydraulic systems.
Safety Compliance – ensuring equipment meets safety standards and regulations.
Documentation – maintaining detailed records of maintenance and report work for equipment history and compliance purposes.
Emergency repairs – responding to breakdowns and emergencies to get equipment back into operation as quickly as possible.
Upgrades – installing modifications and upgrades to improve performance and efficiency.
In addition to your HD Mechanic Trade Qualification, you will also need:
Valid Driver’s Licence
High-Risk Licence
National Police Check
Applicants with experience in the following machinery will be at an advantage:
Excavators – Hitachi
Trucks – Caterpillar
Loaders – Komatsu
Dozers – Komatsu
Graders – Caterpillar

I started working for Schlam in November 2023. A friend who is working in Australia introduced me to Schlam. I applied and was given an offer. The visa processing was a bit slow but yielded positive results. I was very excited when I started work in Australia. Although I’m accustomed to Caterpillar products, I have been exposed to different brands of machines like Komatsu, Terex, Letourneau and even Man Diesel. There are certain aspects of machines, like fire suppression and electrical checks, which have helped me acquire more experience and different methodologies.
When I moved to my first site, I met different people from all different backgrounds. Schlam made my life easy when I first started and the leadership of Schlam is supportive. I will always recommend Schlam to anybody whether overseas or international.
I chose Schlam before mainly because they offered the highest in terms of money. But after working with them for a while now, I believe it will be hard to find another company that offers more than Schlam. Working with Schlam is like working with a good friend. They remove all the usual challenges and focus on how they are going to help their employee grow. With the current management steering the wheel, I believe the tagline ‘aiming higher’ won’t be just words. I believe we will get there.
